HOT

Monday Avery had a fever of 102 at daycare. That afternoon her Grandma Lynn and I took her to the doctor where they took her blood and her snot and concluded she didn't have strep or any form of the flu, but rather a simple cold. Tuesday I stayed home with her and she was mostly miserable, crying and just wanting to cuddle. Her temperature got high a couple of times throughout the day and I gave her some infant's Motrin. She was excited when her daddy came home and they played for a little bit then both went to sleep at about 9:30. Avery woke up screaming at 1am and had a fever of 104. Earlier in the day I looked up things to do if a baby starts having a seizure so I felt kind of prepared if that was going to happen. (It didn't.) We were pretty worried and gave her some more Motrin and talked about taking her to the emergency room. I guess babies have seizures when they run too high of a fever and that it is also hereditary.. which also scared me because it has happened to my dad and happened to me when I was a baby. But she got back into a deep sleep very quickly so we let her sleep. At 6am her fever had gone down. Although I really really didn't want to, I took her to daycare and came into work today.. knowing that I would get a call by lunch time about her feeling sick or her temperature getting too high again. (By law a child cannot be at daycare with a temperature over 101 and has to be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to daycare.) However, this Friday her Grammy and Grandpa will be in town and are sure to chase away all of her nasties.
